In the last election for the US House of Representatives, back in November 2010, did you vote for ... Republican Rob Cornilles? Democrat David Wu? Constitution Party candidate Don LaMunyon? Or did you not vote?

52% - David Wu (D)
38% - Rob Cornilles (R)

If there were a new election for US House of Representatives TODAY, who would you vote for?

33% - David Wu (D)
41% - Rob Cornilles (R)

Based on what you know, should David Wu remain in office? Or should he resign?

42% - Remain In Office
46% - Resign

Survey of 605 registered voters from Oregon 1st congressional district was conducted 03/04/11 through 03/06/11 using a mixed-mode methodology.

Wu probably won't even run again and the district is D+8, likely to stay the same in redistricting, so I don't think this will be an opportunity for Republicans.

Indeed, I am sure that the Dems must be pressuring Wu quite strongly to step aside. While Wu's scandal is rather embarrassing, I don't think that there is much reason to assume the seat is in danger at this juncture.

If they're somehow not pressuring him to resign, then they deserve to lose the seat TBH. An important party function is casting off the dead weight; bad things happen when this is not done. Just look at Bill Jefferson (granted the Dems retook his seat two years later, so it was by no means a catastrophe to lose it).

Yes, it is. Wu will probably win if he seeks reelection

Indeed it is. And it's, well, ages before the next election and any seat won by double digits in a dire year is a safe one. Still, voters tend not to react very well to bizarre/disturbing/offensive (delete where appropriate) behavior (as they define it) on the part of their representatives.

Correct answer. There's also a distinction between Wu resigning now and simply not running again. Wu could hang on for the balance of his term and not effect Dems chances of holding the seat as long as he doesn't try an ill-fated bid for re-election.

Deleted everything that it was appropriate to delete.

To be fair, their OR-01 poll last year was pretty on the mark, but yeah, they totally whiffed the OR-05 one.

The picture made the issue more viral, but was not the issue.
