Both should be given medals and have streets named after them.

Let's put it this way: I think a reasonable argument in favor could be made, although the whole story's relevance is somewhat overrated.

At any rate, he'll certainly never actually be executed...and he'll rightly go to prison.

The guy that allegedly leaked the quarter-million diplomatic cables to Julian Assange and Wikileaks.  Currently in solitary.

Option 3, although option 3 and 4 aren't self-excluding.

If he has done what he is alleged to have done, then depending on how the "giving them Aid and Comfort" clause is iinterpreted he could be guilty of treason, tho given how he allegedly did it, it may be difficult to meet the two witness requirement found in the constitution.  If we used the death penalty more broadly than we do today, I could see myself supporting Manning's execution, but not given how it is currently used.

No because he's too lowly of a person to have given Assange all that information.

If only that had been true.

Agreed, Fed.  What was it like 250k who had access to this information?

As to the ?, I don't support his execution- mainly because most of the information was mundane. He should, however, serve a very long prison stretch.

Assange should be treated as a enemy agent and denied entry to the US. I wouldn't support any measures to apprehend him.

What damage, really? We are not talking about the launch codes here. Far more information was stolen by an a US ally in the Pollard case or novelized by Tom Clancy from drinking with Naval officers. The clearance required for this information opened it up to an insane amount of people. This was done to allow better information sharing, but the #'s it opened up to was way too many.

Well Jonathan Pollard should gave gotten the death penalty.  Not only did he disclose more important data, he benefited financially from what he did as well.

Agreed, Pollard had the distinct advantage of having influential friends though.

Well, I'm referring to Obama, Gates, Holder, and Clinton's comments, coupled with the fact he's in solitary at Quantico (he might be better off at GITMO)......that smacks of damage.
