Ash Wednesday is coming up on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 which kicks off the preparatory season of Lent.  Lent, of course, is the 40 days (excluding Sundays) leading up to Easter Sunday which is on Sunday, April 24, 2011.

I don't give anything up for Lent, I don't think that's a necessary element of my worship, but for some it may be a necessary ingredient and I respect and admire that.  I do however, use the time to prepare my heart for the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
