I *may* be doing a Boston gig for the next 4-6 and am wondering if anyone lives within 30 minutes of downtown and would like a roommate.  I'm looking to save some money on hotel rates (unless someone knows of a safe but cheap hotel within 30minutes mass transit commute of downtown) I'll be flying out of Boston every friday night and arriving every sunday night.  I basically just need some quiet lodging (a place to shower and sleep and a small closet).  I'll pay a daily rate, $25/day, but I'll need a receipt for tax purposes.

Out of curiosoty, would you accept if it was one of the gay Boston members who offered you to stay at his place?

Not even out of morbid curiosity.

a) note how he skirted that question...

b) $25 a day is ridiculously cheap... let alone in Boston.

It would make a great sitcom, though.

$750/mo for half the rent seems reasonable. He could get his own (very decent) apt here for that much but that's beside the case.

Maybe there's a foreign exchange program between New England and the South that jmfcst can qualify for.

You can live with me and commute!

But you have to do all the cleaning. And there's a mice infestation.

And you're free to practice your "Christian lifestyle," but I'd prefer that you not do it in my apartment and not bring any of your... uh... Christian "friends" over here.

most weeks, I would be flying home friday night (so check out would be friday morning) and returning very late Sunday night (around midnight).  I would be spending 11-13 hours in the office each day, so I just need a roof over my head from around 8 pm to 6 am....just a bedroom (heck, a 10x10 room would be fine) and a shower.

I'd would like to spend my evenings on skype with my family on my laptop, so internet service would be great.  I'd pay for my own food, and probably would keep it at work in the frig.

I'd live out of my suitcase and be as quiet as a mouse and I would have no guests.

Can't help you man. I have family and friends up there, but they are not looking for a roommate.

Curious, would you be looking to drive everywhere. Location would be very important in terms of a commute. Also, if you aren't doing some sort of sabbatical, shouldn't your company pick this up.

$750/month is absolutely reasonable for a bedroom in a shared apartment or house, as long as it's not too central or luxurious.

That said, I don't know of any vacancies.

Dude why isn't the Company you work for picking up the tab for a extended stay hotel?  Or are you self-employed now?

You should take him in Brittain33. It would be an interesting experience for both of you. Reach out!
Heck, you both believe in God don't you?  So you have more in common with the chap then I do right out of the box. Think about it. Smiley

Having the company reimburse you for an expensive mandatory business trip is anti-business union socialism.

I have my own company and the hourly rate is an all-inclusive rate, and the contract is corp-to-corp, so in my case I am the company.

Gotcha....I remember you said once you worked for a bigger company, which is why I was curious.

I fail to see how anyone would have a problem with that.  Coming up with a suitable receipt might be a pain.

no, but expertise of the risk software package Openlink Endur/Findur I work in is very hard to come by in Boston, so after my initial 6 month gig is over, I'm hoping to turn this into a opportunity to work remotely from home, if not fulltime then at least on the side.

someone mentioned 750/month, but I was only offering 25/day....if I fly out every weekend, it would come to around 550/month....I'll probably look into renting a studio apartment after the first week

I'm obviously not in MA but I would take you in out of curiosity. I sort of saddens me that some people on here are too bigoted to even try.
