HP. A hack who have no distance to himself. Raging about bad political correctness on Atlas, but reporting posts critical or ridiculing him.

I must disagree with characterizing cinyc as a "hack." He holds his opinions in good faith, and tries to be objective on psephological issues. I also have trouble characterizing as a "hack" someone who actually on a fairly regular basis contributes informative posts of substance (and to be quite candid, that separates him from a considerable plurality of the posters on this forum really). Granted, he lets some matters get under his skin (maybe he should take up pot and chill out more), but that is hardly unique on this forum now is it?  JMO.

Weird poster.

On one hand, he posts high quality information about a lot of topics. On election night, his posts are always especially worthwhile.

On the other hand, when policy is actually discussed, he seems extremely unreasonable and....yes.....hackish.

FF I suppose. Disagreements with people on policy don't bother me one bit, so I'll gladly take Cinyc for the positive qualities he brings to the table.

When I first came he was one of the most rational Republicans. Unfortunately he seems to have been brainwashed by the teabaggers and has gone off the deep end since then.
His anti-Arabic rants during the last days have been especially cringe-worthy.

He's a FF.

I had a great time working with him in the Northeast Assembly.

I don't always agree but I don't let politics ever let me vote in these polls.  If the person is a good person, I vote FF.  Agree or not is irrelevant to me.

I'm not sure he's a hack so much as uncompromisingly hostile.  I do not get the sense that the purpose of conversation is at all collaborative to him, which makes me uncomfortable talking to him.  That's just not how I'm into approaching policy, but he certainly has rhetorical talents and he doesn't ignore nuance.

None of that's grounds for an HP vote to me.  He's not a useless poster and he doesn't seem like a bad person or anything.

He's a hack, sure, but so are most of us (myself included!) and unlike most hacks, he usually provides explanations, links, evidence, etc, so even if I disagree with him, I'll give him a FF rating for actually trying to support his claims.

He probably would not be a fun person to hang out with. He seems perpetually depressed or something. I remember he seemed more like a laid back, normal guy back in the day. I don't care for his opinions on the issues either as most of them are just recycled right-wing talking points but his statistical analysis, county maps, etc. are great. He's obviously pretty intelligent but he's not a lot of fun. So basically I'm pretty mixed when it comes to him.

He needs to calm down. Maybe he should smoke some weed or something.

He's a smart guy with a lot to contribute. Can't vote HP despite our many conflicts.

I used to feel that way, and still do to some degree. But the quality--not necessarily the conservativism--of his arguments have declined as he's transitioned steadily and sadly from sounding pointedly articulate to more like a coot.

He's probably just getting bitter with old age. Leave him alone.
