Palin's fans can only rely on CNN polls to regain some optimism: it shows how desperate they should be Grin.

Can't count her out yet. Her getting the nomination would be highly entertaining.

Yes, it would be very entertaining.  The outcome of the race would never be in question, and we'd just get to listen to Palin and her delusional supporters make funny soundbites.

Not to mention the various theories on the morning after Election Night about how Obama  and his cohorts stole the election with the dubious 65% of the popular vote he received despite running the country into the ground and taking away our freedoms.

I'd honestly rather have Palin as the nominee than Huckabee, but ideally neither will get the opportunity. At least if Palin is nominated, we won't ever have to hear about her ever again and she'll be discredited. I'm betting that it would be a pretty unanimous rejection; I'd wager to say that over 20% of Republicans would vote against her.

Significantly the GOP would have to start seeking the moderates that it has recently brushed off as 'not conservative enough'. Remember that four years after the Republicans got trounced with Goldwater they won with the moderate Richard Nixon. Four years after having lost badly with George McGovern, the Democrats elected Jimmy Carter and won.
