If the candidates for Congress next year were Republican Kristi Noem and Democrat Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, who would you vote for?

Stephanie Herseth Sandlin ............................. 46%
Kristi Noem ..................................................... 45%

Rematches usually lead to the same result as the original match. With that said, SHS was a representative in this district for over three terms, so she probably has a better relationship with the voters than most Congressional losers.

She'd be dumb to go for the house seat again right away. She should wait until 2014 and see if Tim Johnson is retiring. She is the entire South Dakota Democratic bench.

I'd presume she's best suited to running for Governor at this point. Regardless, her political future isn't exactly bright.

Sandlin was a hard worker during her terms, so this result isn't surprising. Members of Congress that actually do their job at hard to come by.

Eh, I figure that at this point, she is done with that House seat. Its going to be a Presidential year, and I know she had done it before, but I just dont see her winning the seat back.

Considering she is the Democratic bench of SD, I think it would be wise for the Dems to just plan this seat go unopposed initially and play the waiting game as long as they can.  If a weak GOP Pres nominee or an upswing in Obama's popularity arises in early 2012, Sandlin can then come in late and go for the kill.

I don't know why she'd want to go back to struggling every two years when she can just wait for an open Senate seat and only have to run every six years.
