If the 2012 Republican primary for President were held today would you support
Haley Barbour, Mitch Daniels, Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, Jon Huntsman,
Sarah Palin, Tim Pawlenty, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, or are you undecided?

Romney: 24.3%
Huckabee: 18.8%
Palin: 17.1%
Gingrich: 10.2%
Pawlenty: 3.5%
Santorum: 1.9%
Huntsman: 1.5%
Daniels: 1.0%
Barbour: 0.6%
Undecided: 21.0%

Strategic National surveyed a random sample of Michigan voters. The statewide,
automated poll had a total of 510 respondents, 52% female and 48% male, 37%
Democrat, 34% Republican, and 29% Independent. It was conducted January 24- 25,
2011, and has a margin of error of +/- 4.4%

The GOP Primary survey had a total of 480 respondents, 50% female and 50% male,
and a margin of error of +/- 4.5%.

The only ones with support greater than 10% in Michigan are Romney, Huckabee, Crazy Lady, and the Grinch. It's amazing that Mitch Daniels does so badly in Michigan.  If he can't do better than 1% in Michigan, then he might as well pack it in. Likewise Pawlenty and Mr. Sanctimonious.

There's little time for establishing a record of achievements between now and November 2012 for almost any political leader except perhaps the President himself. We are back in political gridlock in national politics.

...I am amazed that the new Republican Governor of Michigan is not getting very high marks. Of course, Michigan has an economy in transition -- from a modern industrial economy to a Third-World agrarian economy if it isn't careful. Should Rick Snyder pull off an economic recovery in Michigan he becomes one of the stars of the GOP. Of course,  that would be a miracle in perhaps the most ungovernable state in America. Blanchard, Engler, and Grantholm entered with high hopes and left office with a vastly-disappointed electorate.
