will either party ever change the current law on anything?

I say, no changes in the next 10 years.

Filibusters are not regulated by law.

The Republicans will, once they re-take the Senate.

Filibuster reform will probably be seen in 5-10 years. I think a lot of Senators are seeing the ridiculous abuses of it but they're unsure of how to deal with it for fear of their party getting bitten in the butt for it.

It will go, when the majority party in the Senate at the beginning of a Senate session decides that it is time that it goes. That may require more imagination than most politicians have, but in any event, it serves as a check on the filibuster, because if the party in the minority pushes that execrable procedural rule too far, they are subject to castration. And that is good - yes good!

Only the GOP has the cajones to do it. Whenver they regain the Senate majority, it will happen. They'll go back to their "up or down vote" rhetoric.

Hell, they already are Memphis. Without a BIT of irony they were demanding an up or down vote on health care repeal.

Republicans. Were demanding an up or down vote. On health care reform.

Republicans are always good at advancing the narrative that best fits our political needs. Tongue

I suppose that's how the filibuster will be ended.
