Claims came out yesterday at 436,000.  What you should be asking is what the unemployment rate will be today.

I noticed you didn 't answer the question.

So I'll make it clearer.  Where the unemployment claims numbers down, stable or unexpected?

Oh, and as to the 'unemployment rate.'  It will be as low as BLS can fudge the numbers.

You might want to check the ratio of the number employed, relative to the number of americans age 16 or older.

This is no innovation, Carlhayden.  These numbers have been faked since Reagan destroyed the government.

The official unemployment rate increased to 9.8%

The number of new jobs was unexpectly low.

CarlHayen, the new jobs are all being created in Asia, Latin America, and Africa.  There is really no reason to create much employment in the USA anymore.  I think much higher unemployment will continue to be the norm for the rest of our lives.

LOL, fail. If you expect something to be "unexpected", then it can't be unexpected.

Yup!

The problem is that the American liberal views media is so totally unable to deal with reality that whenever the economic news is unfavorable, they label it "unexpected."

I love making fun of this stupidity.

On Carl's well-reasoned question, I vote "apricot".

The always wonderful Bondad has a hopeful post predicting that the jobless number will be revised significantly to paint a much rosier picture, so that's something to bear in mind. It's a pretty detailed analysis, you should check it out. Wink

Viva free trade.

Free trade doesn't destroy jobs. And jobs aren't "created" at some random place by powers that be.

The mis-comprehensions about trade and globalization are so vast they'r depressing (and I'm not really thinking of Opebo, who we all know are deluded to the point that he probably needs to be hospitalized but of sane people who buy into the trade scare).
