So basically the old Grayson seat is a gerrymandered monstrosity designed to shove all the non-black Democrats in the Orlando area in with a bunch of Republican rural counties and exurbs while the blacks are pushed to Corrine Brown's seat. However the fair redistricting plan shouldn't allow this. It seems a "community of interest" around Orlando would consist of a district containing the whole city proper and would be only plurality white, and safely Democratic.

So could Grayson make a comeback then? I SO SO SO hope so, assuming Obama doesn't give him a cabinet position or something.

I suspect there will be a Dem seat in Orlando, but the Dems won't nominate Grayson. Suck it up BRTD! Tongue

Obama isn't going to give Grayson a cabinet position.  Grayson is a left wing hack who would never be confirmed by the Senate.

There are better candidates for a hypothetical Orlando Democratic district than Alan Grayson.

I see MSNBC in Grayson's future.

Obama is too much of a moderate hero to ever nominate Grayson. Face it, he's moved far to the right since 2 years ago when he nominated more Republicans than liberals for his cabinet.

Why wouldn't the Democrats nominate Grayson in a safely Democratic seat? Democrats LOVE Grayson.

Well Michele Bachmann is a massive bitch but that doesn't keep Republicans from voting for her or loving her.

He comes across as as unhinged to conservatives and moderates as you think Michelle Bachman does, and therefore is a net drag on the national Democratic party.  They would be better off without a Congressman who could galvanize the national opposition with the dumb things he says.

Like I said, I see MSNBC in Grayson's future.

You can tell BRTD isn't really involved in politics. I mean, there's the usual BRTD simplistic thinking about everything and then there's the simplistic thinking on stuff like this that is actually embarrassing. "But Democrats love Grayson!" What a clown.

I hope he gets a nice comfy D+20 seat.
In that way he can turn up on TV on a regular basis to spew his trash and boost fundraising for the Florida GOP.

He will be your Michelle Bachman/Joe Barton.

Truth be told: his republican health care plan schtick he performed on the senate floor was exactly the sort of stuff democrats would have needed more of to survive the crazy summer of 2009.

Alan Grayson was an accidental Congressman-when he was elected in 2008. He narrowly unseated a mediocre GOP incumbent- Rick Keller- due to Barack Obama coattails.

Thank you captain obvious.

If the district is created the Democrats should nominate a committed liberal that isn't a prick.

He would definitely run if a seat like that was created, that's for sure. Don't know if he would win the primary, though.

Uh, do you have any clue how much doorknocking and phonebanking I did this season? Probably not as much as you (as I have a non-political job taking up much of my time as well), but a hell of a lot. I even woke up before 8AM on Election Day for that.

Grayson had excellent fundraising and is very popular on Democratic websites (see what people think of him on DailyKos). And in 2008 he beat an establishment-backed Moderate Hero candidate so he certainly has appeal needed to win the primary.

So is Michelle Bachmann on Republican sites.  That doesn't mean she's the ideal candidate for an open seat.  Why is Grayson special?  Because he's a left-wing hack, not a right-wing one?

Alan Grayson committed political suicide by releasing that ridiculous ad.

You still don't understand how things work. I can't believe you put "very popular on Democratic websites" as a reason why this little dream of yours is possible.

Uh, I'm serious. Do you have any clue how insufferable it is for me to get up before 8? Hell before 9 is bad enough. I had to come in at 9:30AM today because I bribed this guy to trade shifts with me so I could leave before 8:30 and go to my show and it was HELL. I felt like I was going to fall asleep for the whole first half of work. I don't get up before 8AM unless it's IMPORTANT.

Who is going to beat Grayson? He has tons of money, a network and would easily get tons of very loyal volunteers. It's like saying Bachmann can be primaried.

I mean if your people are nominating people like Sharron Angle why can't we nominate Grayson?
