Why is Sarah Palin seen as being especially conservative, compared to the rest of the GOP?  I haven't heard anything from her that seems substantially different in a rightwards direction from the GOP party line.  Any examples?

She's a woman. Most outspoken women are liberal. You get one that isn't, but rather a staunch conservative, and it makes her seem even moreso.

Her promiscuous daughters smoke weed, drink underage, and curse serially.

Very conservative.

The problem isn't that she is too conservative but that she is too stupid.

Wow. You think she's stupid? Really?

So many of you are at the point where I think you only say this to make yourself feel better about your own intelligence. Try to switch it up a bit. This thread isn't about her intelligence so you don't have to jump into "...she's stupid!"

She wanted a 'pathway to citizenship', TARP and prop 19. No wonder the teabaggers love her.

I love how people are saying she's conservative.  She participates in pissed off, yet feel good, no real policy agenda populism.  Plus she's an attention whore.

She can relate to people and seems folksy because she is.  She is the average American who by grasping for any thread of power she could get, got lucky.  Now she uses the folksy charm ingrained into her throughout her life to her advantage with the foaming-at-the-mouth conservative populists that have become the base of the Republican party.

But make no mistake:  The folksy charm is a put on, now.  I had a friend who is an adopted Korean.  She lived her whole life in Bemidji, Minnesota in the same house, until she went off to college in Birmingham, Alabama.  Within a few months, she had a pretty good southern drawl going without even thinking about it.

I doubt Sarah Palin is anything she presents herself to be without significant effort.

So Phil is right:  She's not stupid.  She's very clever.  Though I doubt her intelligence is that far above normal.. perhaps within one standard deviation.

(not directed at any one individual)

I should have known better than to expect serious responses to a question involving Sarah Palin.

I have this very intelligent friend that once did the same thing, not to mention plenty of others. It's eye roll worthy but not a sign that someone is stupid.

Your friend made a mistake. With her there is a pattern of stupidity.

The way she presents herself.

Also, the fact that she generally endorsed the more conservative candidates in the 2010 elections helped make her look more conservative.

And many of my very intelligent friends (including the one I mentioned) have a history of making stupid comments. One classic was "....Muslims compared to regular people." Stupid, px? Keep in mind that the person in question graduated in the top ten of my high school class (of over 600 people) and attended an Ivy League university.

One of Obama's homies thought Guam could tip over and capsize. Not sure if that is worse than some Palinisms or not.

Ha! The self proclaimed socialist is bigoted. Yeah.

If you knew the person, you wouldn't think the person was bigoted. Just says very stupid things, not thinking before speaking.

Of course Sarah Palin is stupid. Anyone who endorses Christine O'Donnell over Mike Castle in a Republican primary is a major dumbass.

Who said that socialists can't be bigots?

I figured with all of your leftist hack talking points that you wouldn't ever entertain such an idea. But no, the person in question really isn't bigoted. They just seriously don't think before they speak.

The problem is Palin has a long string of repeated gaffes. And let's not forget the Couric interview.

I'm surprised Phil is so defensive of Palin with how he feels about her candidates, (ex. Angle and O'Donnell)

You mean she pretends to be stupid in order to pander the Iowa and South Carolina rubes that vote in the Republican primaries? ("I'm one of you, not like all the other Wall Street/Chamber of Commerce guys running").

Again, I know people that are exactly the same way.

O'Donnell is a certified joke candidate and Angle is just out there. I think Palin is far too often unfairly beat up on. I wouldn't say that I really like her but when someone is treated in a way that I see as unfair, I'm going to defend them. I probably wouldn't care to say anything about her if it wasn't for the vitriolic hatred and obsession from the Left.

Ah, I see, it's only intelligent when the Left says that they aren't with Wall Street/the Chamber of Commerce. Got it.
