Does anybody believe after last night, that Obama will be challenged by someone else in the party?  Hell, even Kucinich isn't running in 2012.

I'm thinking there's a slight possibility...but I doubt it.  I don't think there's really anybody who could get away with trying to primary Obama right now.

He deserves to be primaried because he is a complete and utter failure as a leader, but it's probably not very likely.  Actual politics aside, his leadership style has more in common with Jimmy Carter, another failed president, than Bill Clinton, one of the greatest leaders of the last 50 years.

I love how Republicans always pretend to have respected Bill Clinton.

I don't, but I respect some of his policies (welfare reform).

Interestingly, I actually did vote for his rumored primary opponent, Bob Casey, Sr.

Unless there is a major scandal, or his numbers drop to a point where he can't win, I don't think he will be challenged.

Retrospect man. He's a lot better than Obama.

Obama just has a more influential partisan news channel attacking him than Clinton had to contend with.  And Clinton also took midterm smackaroo on the chin.

If Obama did falter, it was in 2 key ways relating to messaging:

1. Allowing unrealistic expectations for a fast recovery to set up the country for frustration.  Kind of reminds me of Ehud Olmert- not that Obama is anywhere close to as unpopular as that- but he set himself up for disapproval by absurdly vowing to eradicate Hezbollah from South Lebanon.  Of course he couldn't do that and Israelis felt he failed and elected a rightwing government.  He should have set the bar lower.  Not sure if the analogy is perfect but anyway, Obama should have managed expectations better e.g. we'll get to recovery but don't expect an overnight miracle and the more the Republicans block me on Limbaugh's orders, the longer it'll take.

2.  Not selling his success.  Obama averted a depression, turned job losses into job growth, cut taxes and saved thousands of American lives with healthcare.  And no one noticed.  He should have said, we've succeeded but not as fast I want, then ask for a second stimulus to be paid for by expiration of Bush's tax cuts on wealthiest, so as to not accumulate more debt.

If he does, whoever is the Dem nominee is, will lose.

I think he needs to stop thinking like a legislator, and really start throwing down the leadership gauntlet.

He's got achievements to demonstrate, but he needs to marry that to a few other things, and I don't think he'll have as hard a time being re-elected as many think.

Howard Dean is being mentioned today as a potential 2012 primary challenger to Obama, according to Politico.

Isn't Alvin Greene the obvious choice?

He turns 35 in 2012, so he meets all the constitutional requirements.

I'd like to see that, just because we need another poor president.
