Who is the biggest survivor of last night's bloodbath?

Harry Reid defied all projections that showed him as dead meat for the last year and won a stunningly comfortable victory. Hell, he even carried Washoe county! And all that despite the fact that almost every Republican in the country worked to defeat him.

Pat Quinn was one of the most unpopular governors in the country. He barely survived a tough primary challenge that left him severely bruised. The voters seemed ready to vote a ham sandwich just to get rid of him. Polls showed him trailing by high single digits.
Yet he managed to win by the slimmest of margins, despite the wave that submerged Illinois Democrats.

Both are fantastic, Reid obviously much higher profile, so I voted Reid.

They haven't actually called the Illinois race.

They haven't actually called the Illinois race.

Quinn is 9000 votes ahead with only a handful of Cook county precincts remaining.
Game Over.

Brady could demand a recount if he wanted to be an asshole...which is possible. Not much chance it would change anything, of course.

(Although Illinois has quite complicated recount rules.....and it wouldn't be a pretty thing to watch.)

Reid is definitely the most impressive - Bennett, too.

Reid, because he did it himself, unlike Quinn.

They are still 20000 absentee votes, though the probability of Brady winning over 70% of them is probably small. You are right that probably just caution by the media is preventing a call.

It's hard to say.  Reid was reviled in Nevada, and still is, but survived due to the fact that the Republicans decided to nominate someone who should be committed.  Quinn benefited from the fact that Brady was not a downstate Illinoian and therefore failed to generate enough excitement there to offset the Cook county votes.

Probably Reid, though both are incredibly impressive. Other impressive Dem showings are Bennet and Strickland and Sestak (though they came up just short).

Definitely Harry Reid.

Not only did he win, he won quite handily.

Voted for Quinn since his approvals actually make Reid's look good and he almost never lead in the contest and was way, way down at points. Reid was in the lead a few times and always kept it really close (as soon as people realized what Angle was).

I think he might have been in like one Rasmussen that was taken right after her primary win but that was never worth anything.

Quinn

Simply because I put Brady down as safe (Embarrassed) whereas I had NV-SEN as tossup.
