If Nixon had followed the advise of some of those around him and burned all of the Watergate tapes (or somehow did away with them without others knowing) after Butterfield testified in July 1973 that they existed, do you think he still would've been impeached and had to resign anyway?

Pat Buchanan advised going out onto the Whitehouse lawn and having a hugr fire to burn the tapes in. The pictures of that in the history books would be sweet. Nowadays, according to a Bob Woodward book, it's called the "bonfire method".
