How is Rendell running for President when he loses in 2006?  Tongue

In all seriousness, a nationwide Rendell vs. Santorum race would be fun to watch and I believe a total tossup. Of course, I support Santorum.

Are you serious? What is wrong with Pennsylvania Dems? Rendell is not as popular as you think. Rendell couldn't win Virginia or North Carolina. John Edwards couldn't even take NC and it's his home state. And explain to me how in states like Arkansas, Ohio and Missouri (where social issues seem to be the main concern) would go for Rendell instead of a socially conservative candidate like Santorum.

Santorum is further out to the right than voters in Ohio, Arkansas and North Carolina (not West Virginia).  The 78% of the voters who didn't vote " morals and values" would swing th election.

How is Santorum "further out to the right?" His lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union is 87. Rick Santorum is not some far right wing extremist. You were too generous with your map, nini. I'll admit that in a Presidential election Rendell would have a bit of an edge but it would be close. Your map is obviously biased.

Rendell would win.  The unfortunate thing we're looking at is a Catholic vs. a Jew.  I don't know how the South would take it.  They may look 3rd party.  Actually a 3rd party would emerge in this case giving Rendell an even further advantage.

Not with Santorum's social conservativism. He'd do very well in the south.

Santorum would win every socially conservative state, so color Ohio and the South (except possibly Florida) blue without question. However, he's too far-right to unite the country, and Rendell would probably pull it out.

Give LA to Santorum and you've got it right.
