Useless in the best cases, useful idiot of the right in the worst (what Change08 said). If you're looking for left-wing heroes you should definitely look elsewhere.

There was only one election where he made an actual difference, and that was 2000. Since then, he's faded into irelevancy. If he runs another time, it'll just prove that he doesn't know that he's no longer relevant.

Overall, FF for his work in consumer advocacy.

I am not going to pin the 2000 election on Nader, because it seems a little fascist to suggest that my vote belongs to one candidate or the other based on my party affiliation. Furthermore, it is not Nader's fault that 2.73% of people who voted weren't excited enough about Al Gore to not vote for Nader. That rests souley on Gore, as does his coming up short in the challenge to the results in Florida.

We had this exact same poll at least twice before.  I won't go into the same diatribe I went into on those occasions, but I voted FF, and I usually avoid such polls.  He's decrepit now, but he was huge, like Che Guevara.  I don't always agree with him, but I've been admiring him since I was nine years old.

I'm very tired of this line of attack. In 2000, Gore still had a reputation for hawkishness and supported DLC policies like NAFTA, welfare reform, the death penalty, war on drugs, etc. This is someone that had received Fred Phelps support just 12 years ago! Liberals had absolutely no reason to be enthusiastic about him at all. If you're going to complain about anyone, complain about the Supreme Court or Harris or Gore himself for being such a lackluster campaigner.

All are to blame, Nader comprised.

Nader flat out said he wanted Bush to win. He also idiotically stated that Bush and Gore were absolutely identical and they did not differ in any way whatsoever. And had no problem taking tons of money from Republicans all the while investing in Halliburton. He is a truly vile person.

Note I didn't actually say anything positive about him, that was more directed towards Gore's supporters still whining 10 years later over people that probably wouldn't have even bothered voting if their candidate wasn't on the ballot.

I don't think it's all that fair to say that Nader screwed up the election for Gore.  It's possible that he could have won Florida, had a statewide recount been conducted.  And there's no guarantee that he could have won in other states, had Nader not been on the ballot.

It's also possible that he could have won by a 1992/1996-style margin in the EC if Bill Clinton had campaigned for him.

Yeah, how is this all somehow entirely Nader's fault?  Gore had control over his campaign and could have done an infinite amount of things differently to win that he didn't.  It's his fault he lost, not Nader's.

Because Democrats want to find somebody to blame besides their own nominee.
