Hello, people of the Midwest. This may seem random and on-the-fly to you, but I felt it was urgent.

We in the Midwest have been put in an unfortunate circumstance of having no one else on the ballot but Kalwejt - who has just recently proven himself to have entirely the wrong demeanor and attitude to hold such a high public office. Yes, it is true that Kal is a friend of mine, but his decision to troll the convention of my party for no apparent reason, as well as his hypocritical accusations directed toward us, have proven to be one step too far to me. The Midwest deserves better than to be forced to elect such immaturity into the Senate.

I wish it hadn't had to come to this. But I'm not doing this for myself, or to spite Kal - I'm doing it for you, the Midwest, because you deserve a choice.

My thanks,
SvenssonRS, ican'tbelieveitwasn'tformerlyknownasverin

Good for you. An uncontested election is the worst thing that can happen in Atlasia.

I am quite serious, actually. Elections matter a great deal to me, & I have said on multiple occasions that each party should make a good faith effort to contest as many offices as possible.

I was under the impression that convention trolling was pretty common, at least historically, in Atlasia.

It is, though that doesn't make it alright.

TPTTAA Reporter - How does your record as chief of the legislature compare to that of Kal, and how does this make you the top candidate for election?

@Endorsers: Thank you, one and all. Smiley

@Kal: Yes, I will debate you.

And in response to Teddy...

I will be the first to admit that my record is not as strong as Kal's, in terms of work in the Althing. But since he was its founder and the one who poured life into it, I doubt many will ever be able to compare to that. I'm still learning - or to be blunt about it, I'm a "n00b" - but I hope it's evident I'm learning well enough.

For my supporters, stay tuned to this thread. I hope to make something of a speech later.

People of the Midwest, and of Atlasia, I speak to you today to alert you to a grim development, albeit a very telling one.

My opponent, Kalwejt, has officially broken off our friendship simply because I declared my candidacy in response to his immature trolling. He has taken things much, much too far this time, simply because of a merited response. Tell me, do you want a man of his demeanor in the Senate? Does such a man deserve to hold elected office, ever again? I ask you all, members of the Populares, RPP, and even JCP alike - should we reward his immature, childish temper tantrums with electing him to the Senate?

I ask of you not to vote for me, but against Kalwejt. Vote for a chance to defeat a man who would leap so far over the line of decency just over petty politics. Trust me when I say that attitude is set to serve nobody but himself - and least of all the Midwest.

Thank you.

Ah, I love this, Svensson. I was willing to debate your publicly on the basis of issues, and you, the one who is screaming loudest about "immaturity", is going personal. Not suprising, because there is nothing you can offer. I wonder who is doing an immature politics now.

Let's start real and compare records. I promoted you to be first Midwest Althing PPT, because, despite our political differences, I was sure about your enthusiasm to work for common goals. Sorry to say, but both as PPT and then Lt. Governor you turned out to be a disappointment.

When I was Lt. Governor, I had a tough challenge in creating a basis for Althing works. It was hard, as I lacked precedences, there were legal controversies, but at least I succeeded with setting some fundamentals, even you admitted in one of your previous posts.

I will be the first to admit that my record is not as strong as Kal's, in terms of work in the Althing.

More: every time I wanted to give you a chance to actually preside, you did nothing and I had to return to call and conduct the vote. And how many times did I reminded you politely, when you already was Lt. Governor, about rules?

I'm sorry to say that, but you showed to be not active enough to run Althing you get: with a precedents and fundamentals. If you can't do such a light task properly, are you qualified for a Senate?

What I can offer: my legislative experience both in Althing and before that in Northeast Assembly. As Attorney General, I'm voluntarily dedicating my own time to conduct a wiki reform, a very ungrateful task, but showing that I have a dedication to work and I already have an experience in federal government affairs, something you never displayed.

You are offering nothing to the people of Midwest beside "running again". No experience, no effects, no vision. I guess that's a kind of insulting, because they deserved a real candidate, not a petty personal crusader.

Now, I'm willing to debate with you on every issue under just one condition: we talk about issues, not about "Kaljew hates me!"

Dear Midwesterns, I ask you to vote for a candidate and his record, whether mine or Svensson. Not against Svensson nor me. We deserved some quality here.

Explain why your screen name memorializes the worst PM in Canadian history.

I don't find that particularly relevant to this election, to be honest. It's an issue outside of our politics.

Do you have any issue beside "I'm running against Kalwejt"?

Again, debate on the issues, if you're taking voters seriously.

Personal issues are not an issue. It's a personal reason, and I don't think they should be dragged into Atlasia.

No, the reasoning behind my candidacy is because I think the Midwest, politically, deserves all alternative. You were the one who decided to make this personal, and you know exactly how.
