Yuri Luzhkov - Mayor of Moscow since 1992 - has been removed from office. Coverage everywhere.

And some still think Medvedev is "independent" or at least "autonomous" from Putin...
Or think this gives an evidence Medvedev will challenge Putin in 2012...

Meh. Horrible and corrupt politician against horrible and corrupt politician. Russia loses whoever wins. (Although Medvedev has shown some signs of being decent, he's still under Putin's watchful eye.) It's not like Luzhkov's downfall is something anyone should mourn.
