Actually, there has been a trend of TV pesonalities entering the political sphere.  Ron Klink and Marjorie Margolis-Mesvinski, to PA Representatives in the 1990s were both from local television.

All that said, it is still very unlikely to go from no office to the presidency.  I could see Brokaw going into a governorship or the Senate.
