I wouldn't be surprised if it was true, but I would need to know what evidence is available to confirm this first.

There are no words to describe how badly I want this to be true.

While it could be true, I'm highly skeptical.  It is sad that some people are hoping its true because they don't care for the man's theology.

Its not like they were kids or even underage - they were around 18 or so, and it is enormously stretching the term to say they were 'coerced'.

I'm not so sure about that. Nutters will believe and do whatever they are told.

I don't think tight tee-shirts are immoral.

I'm willing to wait for the evidence.

Afleitch sends the forum tight T-shirt pics all the time.

Forgive me for being a pompous bastard and to harp on something but why is it okay to censor innuendo on a Tory politician and semi pile on in this case? I think this pastor is a closet case, but I also think there is a slight double standard.

Because career-making rabidly anti-gay men of influence sort of deserve to be 'piled on.' Those who are not, do not. That's my position.

But I did not make the connection between that you made. If you're not happy about my post, report it Smiley

Why do so many people invite you to report a post when you disagree or ask for a clarification these days?

I just wanted to dig deeper on what your criteria is on these gay rumors or even outing.  Is a Tory committing possible malfeasance more entitled to his privacy than the pastor? I respect and  agree with your answer since in the case of the politician his sexual orientation really isn't germane.

well...a quick read of the victims' testimony leads me to believe there is enough to at least remove him from the pulpit until this is resolved.  has he even denied the charges?

Yes, he's denied them, and the most probable reason he hasn't left the pulpit yet is that it might look like an admission of guilt.

can any of the expensive gifts be proven?  that only would be evidence enough for me to ask for his removal until the truth is arrived at

expensive gifts like cars and jewelry should have immediately set off alarm bells...looks like others in the church turned a blind eye

Dude, did you read the link?

A spokesman for Long told CNN on Wednesday that the allegations are "a case of retaliation and a shakedown for money by men with some serious credibility issues."

Long "categorically and adamantly denies these allegations," said spokesman Art Franklin.

I did read the article after I posted that...that's how I found out about the gifts...sounds like the church ignored serious warning signs.

Ah what's he got to loose if it's true. He steps down, takes his money with him, dissapears, goes through a fake 'repentance' (which many of his potential congregation would just lap up) then comes back a year later and starts another church.

He can live his private life how he wants, making sure he's sprouts his nonsense and condemns other people just strong enough to get people off his scent. But it's okay for him, because he's protected by money and status and can do whatever and who ever he wants.

it shouldn't be a matter of what he wants to do, the church itself should vote to have him removed from the pulpit.  simple

If this accused were someone like T D Jakes, then I would be genuinely shocked.

A la Sam Spade: But this guy is based in Atlanta, so we all know ...
