Was there any way for the Commonwealth of England established after Charles I's downfall to have survived? And if so, does it proliferate? Could it have succeeded? Or was failure inevitable?

Impossible.  Cromwell was a dictator whose support was personal.

I didn't necessarily mean the Protectorate. I meant the Rump Parliament, but even it was deeply conservative. Could events have occured during the war that would have lead to a successful republic?
