Come to think of it, as an economically left-wing isolationist with a bizzare love of Unionism, Winston would, racial views aside obviously, fit into the BNP quite nicely.

Not really - I'm not a homophobe or sexist and I'm more left wing than the populists in the BNP.

I have a mate who has signed up to the Aussie version, the ADL. We don't talk about it, but I would hardly call him an uneducated, lower-class white bogan; he's a postgrad engineering student of half-Islander, half-Greek descent. The only time we did talk about it was when he said that he was worried about extreme Islam in Australia and thought this was an appropriate way of indicating to the more conservative elements of Australia's muslim population that people of every race are welcome here, if they embrace the Australian way of life. While I didn't agree with him, my level of disagreement was pretty minor; all indications I've seen of the (very, very small) ADL presence in Canberra were that it's more diverse than most political groups, involved lots of beer drinking, and was only intolerant of the intolerant aspects of the muslim community. While I wouldn't say I respect them (and I certainly wouldn't say I respect the EDL, which has been guided to a more extreme position by the far, far right) I don't hate them.
