Why do Southern D.C. Congressmen keep having me rooting for the Sarah Palin candidate?

Nathan Deal is a pathetic individual who deserves to rot in a cell the rest of his life. I can't wait for Karen Handel to call him out on this. It's especially sad that he's using his status as a veteran against her. Is it now wrong to campaign against a "distinguished veteran?" Because there sure are a lot of people out there, including our President, who has done so.

I don't think "Obama did it" is going to fly in a GOP primary in 2008.  Bush v. Kerry would be a better example.

Why doesn't he just combine his lines of attack then?  "Karen Handel's gayness would have disqualified her from the military, even if she had the courage to serve"

From what I've heard, I think National Republicans supported Handel from the start.

Not sure if you knew, but this was actually a huge scandal back when she ran for Secretary of State. In the Republican primary, her opponent accused her of being a lesbian. (She has no children, due to actual health reasons, not choice)

Deal leads Barnes by 6 while Handel leads Barnes by 1, according to Rasmussen.

Yes, Barnes trails both of them, at least by a little.  But Deal does a bit better against Barnes than Handel does in each of the last three polls.....though all of those polls were done by one pollster, Rasmussen.  No other pollster has polled the GE matchups in several months.

I would like to say, though, with all the skeletons Deal has, I think Handel will do better on election night against Barnes than Deal would.

Imo, Barnes would be a LOT stronger against Deal.  Deal's facing serious legal charges and is linked to D.C.

For uneducated observers here I want to point out this attack from Deal isn't entirely fabricated. Handel doesn't support gay rights at all anymore, of course, there'd be no way she could win election state-wide if she did. However, back when she was chair of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners she donated several thousand dollars to the Log Cabin Republicans, and got their endorsement. Seeing the Republican debate in which that was brought up was especially hilarious, she essentially said "Yes I gave them money, it was so I would get their endorsement, but I still oppose gay benefits and things though!"

Of course, the worst- and most valid- attack against Handel would be the huge privacy breach that occurred on the Secretary of State's website last year, where literally anyone could just log on and claim to be from a company and steal the owner's information and identity. I'm surprised this was never brought up in the GOP Primary. If she wins the runoff, it'll be a great attack for Barnes to make.

(Not commenting on Deal's issues because they're so obvious and well-known, lol. It's not quite as big of a deal to the average GA voter as you might think, though. Remember, Purdue gave himself a huge retroactive tax cut on land he bought with an insider deal and nobody cared!)

That voice on the Deal ad sounds so ominous. It is as if gays are some kind of sociopathic phenomenon, that need to be dealt with like we deal with terrorists. I would like to think such an ad would turn folks off (it really had very little in the way of  specifics anyway other than using the words homosexual and Handel a lot in the same sentence), even Georgian Pubbies, and even Georgian Pubbies outside of the Atlanta, Athens/Augusta and Savannah metro areas. But I guess Deal thinks otherwise.

If all people remember from the ad is "Handel has something to do with homosexuals" I think that's a win in terms of an ad.

This is the sort of thing you run when you really don't have specific policy criticism.
