"Independent voters, the largest bloc of voters in Connecticut, are for the first time evenly divided between Linda McMahon, who gets 46 percent, and Richard Blumenthal, who gets 44 percent."

At the rate that McMahon's money is translating into increased support, if she continues to spend money at the same rate, this will be a Tossup by Election Day.

It'd be pretty pathetic if the margin hadn't closed at least a bit, considering all the money she's spending.

Is she trying to pull a Whitman/Fiorina?

That's pretty much the sum of it. Election buying: it always works.

She doesn't have that kind of money.

Blumenthal has been lying low, at least in the NYC TV market.  McMahon will have to spend about 4 times as much as she already has (She's spent $20,000,000, so $80,000,000) in order to make up the gap against Blumenthal's ad assault.

McMahon's ads have generally been good.  Her campaign staff seems top-notch.

I am not giving up hope that the Republicans  voters of Connecticut will choose Simmons next week. McMahon is a horrible candidate who contradicts the principles of the Republican party. Like we really need a senator who created simulated rape scenes in WWE. She would be an even greater embarrassment in the senate than Al Franken. Probably part of the reason come election day if she makes it out of the primary she will lose in a landslide.

It's silly - but you still remember the ad. That's pretty effective.

1) You remember the ad.
2) McMahon used the same characters in another ad.  You pay more attention to the new ad because you remember the first ad.  Connecticut Muffy and Buffy gabbing in the car will probably be a running theme if McMahon survives the primary.
3) The ads have helped McMahon close the seemingly-insurmountable polling gap between her and Blumenthal.  She's down 10 instead of 20.
4) The ads worked.

Scary thought: He might have won that race had it taken place in 2010 instead of 2006.

Seeing as Schiff has no chance... Connecticut's second best option is McMahon. Scary stuff, but at least she holds Simmons at bay.

Hey - Senator McMahon is better than Senator Blumenthal.  Scott Brown needs some company.

(Even if you don't like those two personally, electing more Republicans from New England will force the New England Dems rightward on economic policy).

Simmons fans: Abandon ye all hope ... this race is shaping up to be a replay of the California primaries.  Simmons is playing the part of Campbell, another sore loser.  If he can't beat McMahon in the primary, we don't want him facing Blumenthal in the general ...

The only thing Simmons is doing is locking it for McMahon.
