Not really, but I tried.  We got baked and went to the Scientology center in Times Square and it was INSANE.  At first it seemed normal but a little weird and then the crazy-train just took off and we were deep into crazy-town.  The people were indescribably bizarre and made it very difficult to keep a straight face.  When I wasn't straight-up laughing AT them I was on the verge of uncomfortable laughter.  It's a total scam and so blatantly absurd.  No mention of Tom Cruise or aliens unfortunately.  I was tempted to ask.

I've considered going to the local Church of Scientology and doing something like that.

I highly recommend it.  A one of a kind experience for sure.  It's amazing people actually fall so hard for it.

I once had a very uncomfortable meeting with a very persistent scientologist in New Jersey once. That was the opposite of fun.

But yes, they are very easy to laugh at.

After that I left, and likewise they made no mention of the extraterrestrial creation story.

Well, yes, that story is OT-3.  You need to make it to their third level before you're allowed to hear it.

And that center in Dupont Circle's been there a long time, "brand new" is a bit of a stretch.

EDIT: I looked it up and they said that they'd been at that location since '95.

I don't have any scientologist in Poland, so I can't repeat Fezzy's adventure.

Yeah, they don't introduce you to the real crazy until you're sufficiently brainwashed to believe it.

It's not tiny Plant City, it's Itty Bitty Plant City---get it right!  Tongue

I don't think they are doing so well here though........no one is ever in the building and I only know of one person who ever actually went there---

I went to the Mormon headquarters in SLC a few weeks back. Minus the weed, it was pretty much the same scenario. Non-Mormons aren't allowed in the main temple, but there are plenty of buildings that anybody can enter, where they tell you all about Jesus preaching to the natives in ancient America and the golden plates and so forth.

With the amount of money those lunatics have gathered I wouldn't be surprised if they started popping up in every other town.

Well, their world headquarters is not far from StatesRights in Clearwater, so I'm not hugely surprised that they have a bunch of branches in Greater Tampa.

I knew the title of this thread was false and misleading without opening it. Anyway, THC is just not that strong a drug to effect such a "conversion." Perhaps you might try LSD Fez. Tongue

...everyone in there was dressed ridiculously and I had to bite my tongue at points to keep from laughing.

What were they dressed like?  Like science fiction nerds?  Spacemen?
