Yes, it was not a progressive revolution Xahar, but neither in general were the founders cynical. They were genuine idealists. In any event, one thing the US has going for it is the Bill of Rights. Canada desperately needs a First Amendment. It is now a crime to say politically incorrect things up there. John Stossel had a piece on it, in a show of his I saw a couple of nights ago about what is right with America. One thing that is right about it is the First Amendment. It is pretty shocking what is going on up in Canada.

PS: By the way, I am not a big fan of Jefferson either (and interestingly his stock with historians in the last couple of decades has in general gone down considerably). He was however a good writer.

It's a so-called tradition that emerged among the Atlas residents of limited mental capacity; particularly those who cannot see any issue other than in black and white.  "FF" is meant to be good, and "HP" is meant to be bad.

Now lets use it in a sentence cpeeks -  "Joe Republic is a HP".

See?

By the standards of their time, they were great FFs. Today however most of them, due to having almost ancient minds, wouldn't understand the present reality.

Don't underestimate them.

Anyway they aren't really flesh and blood people anymore, merely an abstractification for the historically minded to fight over... Personally, I'm not really a fan of that abstractification.

No one should underestimate them. There was a group of people who did underestimate our founding fathers at one point in time. You know who they were? The British.

It is still nearly infinitely preferable to be a Canadian, Torie, as they get free health care.  The 'free speech' thing doesn't actually effect any person's real life (except possibly relating to porn).

Free speech means a lot to people who have something to say.

Which is different from opebo, who is a fairly transparent plant of Indochinese Communists who only ever whines about how horrible America is.
