I have a nasty feeling that  tomorrow evening/night/morning a lot of gloating and self pity is going to happen here...

And I do NOT want to see that happen.

Here's my suggestions to avoid it:

1. Set up a "Gloat" thread and a "Mope" thread
2. Encourage gloaters/mopers to head to gwbush.com or freerepublic.com
3. Sign a pledge not to do either

Please note that gloating about getting ever state and % correct is fine. That's not what I'm worried about. What I'm worried about is threads with titles like:

BIN LADEN/OIL MEN IS/ARE HAPPY NOW THAT KERRY/BUSH IS [STILL] PRESIDENT

FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE WHIPPED YOU'RE ASS!!!!!!!!!

BUSH IS BACK!!! NOW YOU COMMIES WILL PAY!!!!
KERRY'S BEATEN BUSH!!! NOW YOU NAZI'S WILL PAY!!!

NADER WAS THE TRUE WINNER!!!!!!

etc etc etc

I agree to this, I hope everyone will. Let's be civil. We disagree on the issues and candidates I'm sure Al, but you seem to be a fair minded person, which I appreciate.

I had hoped someone would bring this up.  Yes, I'll pledge not to do this.  I wouldn't really look forward to logging on if Bush wins and seeing 50,000 topics bashing liberals and praising how socialism has been defeated, so I won't do anything like that to conservatives if Kerry wins.

No Gloating... sure....

And magic pigs will fly through the air and dance Romeo & Juliet in Central park while pigions suddenly learn to play the flute to provide background music.

We all should have the right to gloat about one thing...but otherwise we should keep civil.

I have the right to gloat if Bush wins NH.  Other people will have the right to gloat if Kerry wins VA.  And so on.

That's it :-)

Seriously, I expect some gloating but the possibility of this board turning into a partisan screech owl contest... is bad...

I can make no promises.

Personally, if Bush loses I be pretty sad and probably pretty drunk.  Not a good combo.

If, by some freak chance, Bandarik manages to win *snicker*, I think the Libertarians should be allowed to gloat.

Yeah, if my prediction nails it, I'll be gloating.

If Bush wins by more than 3 points, he will be able to claim a mandate.  There's a fine line between celebrating a mandate and gloating.  I promise not to gloat for the sake of gloating.

Also: if Nader falls below 0.5%, then BRTD should be allowed to gloat for the next year or so.

I will only mope if my MN goes for Bush.  If MN goes for Bush and he wins, I will be hanging out with my friend Sam Adams for quite some time.

I can't promise no gloating. I can agree to no partisan hackery (word?).

If Kerry wins, I'll return to the favorite activity of the loyal Opposition--taking pot shots at Kerry like the Dems have been doing for the last four years.
