Yes, four trips to Iowa and four to SC.  Also, two trips to NH:

I think it's safe to assume that he's running for president.

He doesn't have a chance. He's got the charisma down but he doesn't package his ideology well enough.

Safe to assume that he's keeping the option open.

He might have a better chance at winning the GOP nomination for President than at win winning "back" the Senate seat that he lost in Pennsylvania. He could imaginably win what remains of the GOP Right in the Northeast and lots of delegates.  Even in his loss in Pennsylvania in 2006 he surely won the majority of republican votes.

Not really. And I doubt the NH will have much affinity for him either. He has to go to IA or SC to make his stand.

That guy needs to campaign early. He's not a national guy and lacks money compared to some other prospects.

He probably just wants to keep his name in circulation in the event that bigger name conservatives (Palin, Gingrich, etc.) decide against running. If his major competition for relatively mainstream conservatives is Tim Pawlenty and Haley Barbour, he'd suddenly find himself in a much more tenable position.

Sorry to bump an old thread but the media here in the Burgh was all a buzz about Santorum testing the 2012 waters.  Apparently he's living in the early primary states.
