In April it was 41-37, so not a whole lot of change.

Alexi's bloodletting from the Broadway Bank Failure was dented by Kirk's 'misremembering' the truth about his military service.

Two very unspectacular candidates both now carrying a ton of baggage.  It's going to ba a long political season in Il.

The poll in the Illinois governor race shows how weak Quinn and Giannoulias really are. Both weren't the right ones to be nominated. It should of been Hynes as governor and Hoffman for senate.

I actually think this is good for Kirk. It decreases the possibility of a the Dems pulling a Torricelli here. Lets also not forget that the Blago trial is starting, G-man still has his relative's bank issue and I think in this environment a bank trumps a military award like an Ace beating a Jack or a Queen. All Kirk has to do is be ahead and at or near 50 in late October/early November.

Oh really...what was that about Hoffman being part of the Chicago machine....or whatever argument you used against him in February?

Kirk needs to start making a move now into the upper 40s.  IF he does, then I'll start to think he's got a prayer here.

Hoffman had low name recognition and the Dems nominated the most liberal two candidates that you can find, and from that standpoint, no Giannoulias as well as Quinn weren't the best ideological candidates out there, their Democratic opponents were.

But I am not supporting Kirk who some Dems on this forum are supporting.

You told me back in February that Hoffman was "unelectable" because he holds office in the City of Chicago. You incorrectly assumed that people would connect him with Boss Daley. Your explanation back then didn't have much to do with ideology.

This race could get a good shake-up if Mike Niecestro, who claims to be an 'ex-Republican' and a conservative gets in the race.  He is now pledging a million of his own money towards the campaign.
Given the nature of the Kirk-Gianoullias race to the bottom and the fact that the conservative wing of the GOP is cool towards Kirk-at best, another candidate could be just what Illinois needs.
