Jerry Brown. He'll get a donation from me if he makes "California Über Alles" his campaign theme song.

I don't get why everyone on here thinks that Brown will win?

As pretty much every factor is stacked against him.

Against him? Umm it's a Democratic state, there is an extremely unpopular Republican governor, he's already extremely well known/liked in the state, his opponent was forced to go right in her primary, he already has big leads in the head-to-head polling... shall I continue? lol.

The last two polls posted on here have Brown only leading by 6 and 4. I think he'll win, but I wouldn't feel too comfortable if I was a Democrat yet.

Californians will definitely be enthusiastic to vote for a multi-millionaire former CEO Republican with the charisma of a dead dog.

Meg, and on this one I am fairly confident. Wait a month, and see. Brown has no idea as to what will hit him, and all his union money will probably be wasted. But then the unions will probably be wasting a lot of money this election cycle.

Almost all money spent on campaigns is money wasted.

Common logic would suggest Brown.....but nothing seems all that logical this year.

By the time this campaign is over, Meg Whitman could've had an easier job winning if she just promised to write a check to cover the budget deficit every year she was in office.

In 2006, the Republican [Arnold Schwarzenegger] beat the Democrat [Phil Angelides] by 16.97%.

According to Wikipedia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_gubernatorial_election,_2010], for the past two months, Schwarzengger's would-be-successor, Meg Whitman, has not led any poll over the opposition candidate, former governor Jerry Brown. So the margins aren't holding for the incumbent gubernatorial party. (Whitman, according to Wikipedia, has led in only three polls, all by substantially lowered margins compared to the eventual '06 re-election of Gov. Schwarzenegger.)

At this point, I'd say that Brown is likely to win. But I'm not dismissing the campaign. Nevertheless, I've clicked in this forum's poll … Mr. Brown for the win.

Throughout the early Summer of 2006, polls either showed a nearly tied race or Schwarzenegger leading by single digits, with the notable exception of a PPIC poll released on July 18th showing Schwarzenegger ahead 43-30. As it happens, comparing Whitman's current numbers to Schwarzenegger's final numbers may not be that illuminating.

Moonbeam will win...unless Whitman can use her money to tarnish him. I doubt that is possible though considering how well known he is.

Right....whatever dirt he has has been out there, cleaned up, and long forgotten, and probably no one cares anymore.

Yeah...and he really is a good politician. It doesn't matter that the issues don't suit him, he will win. Just yesterday he was literally screaming (but in a telegenic way) at Whitman to have debates. He also suggested he would just go stand next to Whitman and people can shout out questions. Funny guy.
