I don't suppose there is a pre-made ballot anywhere that includes Senate races? Grin

The POP's convention has one.

The PS/MB ticket is a ticket based on the utmost of activity and change. Of game reform and progressive domestic policy. It's time to change the game and try something interesting for a change, and that's why I decided to run as a JCP member with Purple State.

I hope my party stands strongly behind me and votes to endorse the ticket. I have always held that the left-wing of Atlasia must remain strongly unified to continue our strength. Don't let petty differences or political affiliation get in the way of what is right.

Let's give it all we've got, guys.

When Purple State tried to get my support, he told me some pretty ridiculous lies and essentially told me that the JCP would "split" if I did not support him. I guess it rubbed me the wrong way.

I also remember his days in the Senate, where he blatantly attempted an illegal circumvention of executive authority in pursuit of his own vicious personal vendetta.

It is for these reasons that I am hesitant to support Purple State, even if his running mate is awesome. Wink

Purple State and I have had our fights as well. I remember trying to throw him out of the ConCon. Tongue

But I do know he's a hard worker at his core, and if he starts to stray, well, I'll kick him a little. Wink

He tried tried to get rid of an inactive officeholder. He was elected to serve the people, not the executive.

If you could provide the relevance of this otherwise plainly obvious fact, it would be appreciated greatly.  Perhaps you will wish to incorporate the illegal nature of the actions in question when formulating your response.

Getting rid of inactive officeholders is serving the citizens. It wasn't clear than this was illegal, PS and senators were able to bring arguments on their side at the Supreme Court. They lost but with differents judges, who knows?

Is there a by-law that states the party must endorse party members first?  If so, I would like to move that be changed.  My specific concern is the Southeast Senate race.

Speaking of endorsements, shouldn't we get busy voting on those?

I LOUDLY and STRONGLY protest the endorsement vote currently taking place.

I asked a specific question about party rules, and made a motion to have them changed.  Both the question and the motion were blatantly ignored by our esteemed leader, Bgwah.  My motion should have been put to a vote.

I cannot in good conscience vote to endorse GPORTER, who recklessly and shamelessly lies about and distorts his esteemed opponent's record.  Nor can I vote to endorse Boris and hawkeye59, who are the two least qualified of the five on the list.

Bgwah's rules could have been interpreted to mean we must first endorse the PS/MB ticket.  Interesting that they were not interpreted that way.

I am leaving the party now.  If I ever return, I will challenge Bgwah for the leadership.

The campaign is very encouraged by the strong showing of support in the JCP convention.

Roll Eyes

I think we should consider removing bgwah and adopting less authoritarian leadership.

Shame.

I've been a little inactive lately due to work, but I will second Fritz's motion. I believe it behooves the Party not to ignore having a vote on this.

I don't think it's worth leaving the party for, but I will "protest" vote accordingly. I like Boris, but he's basically disappeared since announcing leaving me to believe he announced as a (possibly drunken) joke candidacy. Pbrunsel Hawkeye is a good guy who will prove a good progressive in the Mideast Assembly, but in his current incarnation is still just not experienced enough for the Senate. I believe we would be better served backing Franzl despite his mancrush on faux moderate hero Mark Kirk Tongue with Al as a second preference.

RE: the Southeast, I will simply say there are reasons we should not necessarily be beholden to having the JCP endorse GPorter. He doesn't seem to be active or invested in the party except when he periodically emerges to challenge Yank. I'd like to see him first run for SE Assembly and see what kind of voting and legislative record he establishes there.

Again, I second Fritz's motion and call for an end to endorsement balloting until a vote is held on the motion (after my "for now" protest ballot coming momentarily).

Don't mean to intrude.....but I do appreciate any and all support for my Senate candidacy.

I may be a bit too conservative for your party.....as Badger suggested ( Wink ), but I think I've proven that I'm also willing to fight for progressive ideals, such as voting for healthcare reform, making the tax system more progressive, working for environmental protection by encouraging alternative means of energy....and several other things.

Fiscal responsibility remains one of my main goals....but I don't think fiscal responsibility necessarily contradicts progessive ideals.

I've voted against the party often enough as well, of course....but I'm willing to work towards compromise that a majority can find acceptable, I hope.

I'm not going to agree to Bgwah challenges, but I do support the others' and their position on mandatory endorsements. The need to support our party members is very very very important, and I encourage a GOTV effort for them all, regardless of who they are, but there are also other very good candidates, like Franzl, that people should definitely be able to endorse first if they desire.

Sorry, but supporting someone just because he happened to register in JCP and is only running is not enough, esspecially if Gporter is not only a joke, but also someone who have nothing in common with JCP.

Also, I think it's a time to move forward from one-chairman-eternal-rule. Even PCP or Hamiltonians seems to be actually more Democratic than US. Shame, guys.

We don't support him. He just get 1st endorsment by Bgwah sole decision.

Also, a hypotetical situation:

DWTL returns, registers in JCP and happens to be only registered JCP-er to run for Senate, let say, in Northeast.

So, that gives him automatic 1st preference endorsement?

I have never had a GOTV effort for me.

Well, to be fair, there's only like 2 JCPers in the Southeast.

I'm sorry I missed your post, Fritz. It was an honest mistake. I copied the Populare's ballot quickly, made some minor changes to it, and forgot to re-check for other proposals.

The JCP doesn't actually have any bylaws aside from the few we've passed at these conventions. I've consistently tried to use the same rules that have been established as precedent. JCP candidates have always received the first preference. And Purple State is not a member of the JCP. You accuse me of shady motives, but to be honest, did you ever complain when you automatically received the first preference? :/

I would certainly be interested in extending this convention beyond the elections to establish more bylaws and rules. Nobody else ever seemed to care before. Sad
