which state(s) will be the closest? (NOTE:  that doesnt mean that the closest state will be the deciding state)

i say wisconsin and minnesota.  both of those could literally come down to a few hundred votes.  i also think new hampshire will be super-close.

Right now, Wisconsin.  I might change this prediction, though.

I would not be too suprised to see this one be decided by less than 15,000 votes; if 7,501 voters were to shift, the EV results would change.

New Mexico, the closest state in 2000, will be the closest state in 2004.

As a %... Minnesota.

Minnesota.

Polls there are totally tied. Same-day registration could change things, but I think it will be within a percentage point, if not less.

I'm going to be a tad contrarian here and say Virginia.  I think the turnout in the NoVa suburbs is going to be suprisingly heavy and trending Kerry.

MN might be decided by a few hundred votes. MN, OH, and WI are closest, I think. OH might be up in the air, though, because aside from the newspaper poll which puts it at 50-50, the latest polls have indicated Bush has a lead there. But I know for a fact that MN and WI are damn close, and I feel better and better about Bush's chances in MN.

Margin as a %-age of the total vote, I'm going to say that Florida repeats in this category.

Margin of actual votes.... man....  I'm going to guess that my own Iowa takes that prize this year.

1. Wisconsin 0,02 Kerry
2. Iowa 0,1 Bush
3. Ohio 0,2 Kerry
5. New Mexico 0,4 Bush
6. Florida 0,4 Bush
6. New Hampshire 0,7 Kerry

Recounting will continue until January....

Nice to see that avatar!

I'd say Minnesota and Ohio. I'm still not sure about New Hampshire and Wisconsin, but I guess it could be close there too.
