All this is old news. Virtually everyone in China knows how to shop at fresh markets as a daily chore (as opposed to a weekly drive to the store as is the case in North America). Wal Mart is simply trying to replicate that experience into their stores, because they know plonking one of their US stores into China will never fly.

All the meat looks pretty disgusting. Someone should rescue the turtles and frogs. The non-meat items don't seem bad, except for maybe the last one.

Although they're displayed differently, you can definately buy ribs at Wal-Mart here. There are probably a few items in American Wal-Marts that would weird out the Chinese.

Sorry, I'm not saying in America we don't eat some odd stuff but the Chinese and other Asians REALLY eat some odd things.

Hey, overpopulation's a b!tch. Be glad you can eat frogs. It beats starvation. At the same time, I can't help but wonder what a rural Chinese peasant would think of cheeseburger flavored Doritos.

Nos. 2 and 8 wouldn't be unusual in a Mexican Walmart. No. 4 wouldn't surprise me either, though this particular combination I may not have seen (this could have happened in a Spanish supermarket: they bundle orange juice w/ everything there).

The meat looks yum. Apart from pig faces, which just seems... weird.

What's the point of an orange juice/cooking oil bundle?

Eating Crocodiles or turtles is no odder than eating Chicken or Turkey I suppose. Just another dead non-human species.

Culture is a bitch.

Don't know, but I can speculate.  Probably some sort of Olympic merchandising tie-in,  as Arawana cooking oil was the official cooking oil of the Beijing Olympics and Minute Maid is one of the brands that Coca-Cola has and they are an Olympic sponsor as well.
