My God this is depressing.  I just give up, looks like we'll lose seats this time around.
Listen my man, this is a rough night for me too, trust me. But if we dont rally up and keep the movement strong, itll only get worse. You never know when a BO for the LibDems will show up, and we must be strong for when it happens. Smiley

Tories would have to win over half of the remaining seats to get a majority.

So...hmm.  (Tories + Unionists)/(650-number of seats won by SF) still short of 50% + 1 seat.

What about a lib/lab/SNP??? combo?

Tories bag a seat from Labor that was 111 on their list. This is one of those seats that is on the cup of a Torie majority and they got it, but alas it is not a consistent pattern.

Why is London taking so long?

They had local elections running simultaneously. So did other areas of England, but those areas are also taking a long time.

The big cities generally are slow. Birmingham's doing all right, but Manchester, Liverpool, even smaller cities like Brighton and Norwich... nothing.

I have this feeling that Greater London will have one of the biggest swings from Labor to the Tories. We shall see.

It had the biggest swing in 2005, so we'll see if that continues or not.

LDs win Norwich South with just 29.4% of the vote. 28.7% for Labour, 22.9% for the Conservatives, 14.9% for the Greens.

That's the best I could come up with after Ed Balls survived intact.  I was preparing for a really cheesy line had the result been different.

Looks unlikely now, given that Labour has held Westminster North, #61 on the Tory target list and their #3 target in London, IIRC.

Also, I missed the defeat of the most vile major party candidate in the election: LDs hold Sutton and Cheam over the Conservative candidate Philippa Stroud, who is a Jerry Falwell groupie.

Well at least there's the comfort that no matter what, Lib Dems will help serve as kingmaker this time around.
