who does the bad, low paid jobs in low-immigration parts of the US?

Its interesting that in places in the US that have less relative immigration, there are still low wage jobs getting filled.  I wonder if wages are higher for these jobs, and who is doing the lawn mowing and landscaping in these parts?  Could it be that actual native born Americans are actually capable of bussing tables and mowing lawns, or are robots doing these things in the low immigrant areas?

White people?  Teenagers?

My guess is that youth employment is higher here than elsewhere.  Also, the jobs almost certainly pay better here than elsewhere.

My sister's boyfriend does construction and makes $14/hour plus benefits.  His friend that moved up here from Texas was making $10/hour with no benefits doing the same work down there.

If you go to McDonalds, it's all pretty much white high school kids working.  It's almost always college guys doing landscaping work.

In general, workforce participation is higher here than much of the nation.

Blacks in areas with a sizeable black population. In other areas it's whites. For the most part I have noticed that where it is whites doing these jobs, the cost of living is relatively low thus allowing them to maintain a certain standard of living. I don't think they live in 2 bedroom apartments with 6-8 people squeezed in.

I didn't think they made hotel house keepers in white anymore...until I stayed in a hotel 10 miles from the Mexican border.  That was odd.

There are a lot of hispanics (mostly Mexican) in Omaha but you still see young white dudes cutting grass and fat white chicks working at Taco Bell, just like always.
