I know that tax's should remain low during a recession, or whenever consumer spending is low but sooner or later we should start thinking about our budget.

Raise the top rate to 80% right now and introduce LVT. Cut taxes for the ordinary Briton.

TAXES

When output exceeds potential GDP (in a boom).  So not for a LONG ass time.  We arguably haven't been in a boom since the '90s.  That's why our deficit is so absurd, we've been waiting for the economy to support it.  That and politicians love expansionary fiscal policy and hate being on the restrictive side.  So it just expands forever.
