The thing with the American education system is how extremely decentralized it is. Obviously inner Chicago schools are terrible...but New Jersey of all places has some of the best schools in the country.

That said, in addition, I've had the chance to experience both schools in Illinois and here in Hesse. Although I would say the Gymnasium's overall academic level is a good deal higher than Illinois high school....I can say without a doubt that schools and classrooms were in much better shape in Illinois. It takes half a lesson to find a TV screen at our school here sometimes, not to mention just how dirty some classrooms are.... (This of course is a Gymnasium....I don't even want to know what it's like in a 90% Turkish Hauptschule somewhere in Frankfurt.)

I could go on about teacher quality as a result of Beamtenstatus, but I think you know what I'd say anyway (Mind you, not that American teacher unions are any better.....they're proof of Satan!)

They're identical in that respect (except for a few Gymnasien with "elite" reputations that successfully press parents for donations and are thus marginally better equipped ).

The thing with Hauptschulen in Frankfurt is that there are very, very few of them. Meaning that virtually noone attends them who can make it anywhere else. With the obvious consequences of social exclusion etc. The tiered school system just has got to go. (Two tiers with the lower tier the norm I can live with. Which is the basic situation in those regions where the Hauptschule is still very common, ie rural Bavaria, rural Rhineland-Pfalz.)

I  don't understand why there's a spelling issue to start,   there's a spell CHECKER !

Most of the time that's what I use..unless im in a hurry.  If there's a word it doesn't have then I use the google    My MSW has a even better one if need be.

Well, probably I think so because I've not had as much interactions with DWTL than with Libertas.

Oh, I had a lot of interactions with Matthew, and it was hard to fins more arrogant, close-minded, with obvious self-esteem problems person here than him.
