I’d like to formally announce that I will be seeking election to the Northeastern Senate seat in June.

What can I promise to the citizens of the Northeast?

I promise that I will work every bit as hard in the Senate as I have in the Assembly. I’ve sponsored (and gotten passed) several pieces of legislation in the Assembly. I’ve always contacted legislators ahead of time with my bills, to ensure I was securing support and not wasting valuable time in the session. Though only having recently taken the position, I take the job of Speaker very seriously.
What will I do in the Senate?

I will work hard with the current Senate, as an independent thinker, to tackle the problems that currently face Atlasia. I will work to find common ground with Senators that differ vastly in opinion from me. I would be interested in reviving the budget, though with Purple State’s possible vacancy in June, the chance of that coming to fruition may be a distant memory once more.

Finally, I hope that my candidacy dispels all notion that all new posters are I would contend that I’m an example of a new Atlasian hitting the ground running, and I’d like newer members to come to follow such an example.

Don't worry Dallasfan, I still stand by my past opinion. Tongue

Edit: (However, you're the smartest of the three I mentioned. Whether that's damning with faint praise though, you can decide..)

How amusing that Marokai considers himself qualified to call other people stupid. LOL

If you are elected, I'd like to work with you in trying to revive the budget process. I think it can be done even if we lose PS as GM.

Though a greater difficulty than PS's absence is if we continue lacking firm leadership from The White House on this issue....

My friends, it seems that I have won the Northeast Senate race. At first, I would like to thank Eraserhead for the competition, and I would also like to wish the outgoing Senator luck in the Assembly, if he is elected. I’d like to thank the citizens of the Northeast for allowing me to serve once more, first as their Representative, and now as their Senator. Another person I owe thanks to is AndrewCT, for my appointment and giving me an opportunity to serve, and also cinyc for setting the “mold” so to speak for what the Speaker ought to be.

While I ran under the Populares banner, I was not merely a candidate for the Populares. I was a candidate for independents, the RPP, the DA, and even the JCP. I would hope that this will continue in the Senate – I will only obstruct bills that I think are unjust, not merely obstruct for the sake of obstructionism. I will be the voice of my constituents, and I encourage them to PM me or voice their thoughts in here. Without further ado…

Though it is not official, it is most likely that Hantheguitarman will be the next Speaker of the Northeast. It is with great pride and high hopes that I hand the gavel over to him.
