how big Wall Street bonuses benefit the government

I don't know if anyone else has thought about it, but it seems to me that the federal government, the state governments of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York, and New York City are big beneficiaries of Wall Street bonuses.  Much of the bonus money comes on top of existing earnings, so it would be taxed at the employees highest marginal rate.  So, I estimate that alot of that money is getting taxed at a rate in the 30% on the federal level, plus the highest New York, New Jersey and Connecticut state income tax level.  Plus, all those huge Wall Street earnings encourage high flyers to buy a lot of expensive real estate, which in turn triggers some juicy east coast style property taxes.  This is something liberals and conservatives might ponder when thinking about Wall Street remuneration.

Our government is having and affair with Wall Street cuz it's coming to a point that they need all the money they can get just to stay in office.
