Populism isn't really an ideology. It used to be, sort of, but it isn't now.

"Populism" can mean different things depending on the context.

Libertarianism is superior of course.

Libertarianism for sure, though I will say that "better" is a terrible term to use for this poll.

Both are vicious, hateful power worship.  I really don't see much difference.

The good, 1892 style, populism. Then I'm with you.

The concept of populism is much more admirable than the party tailor made for the sheltered, privileged, and generally ignorant of reality.

So there's not such thing as a libertarian who's not in the far extremes of the ideology?

The backbone of libertarianism is a general disregard for the troubling implications its suggested changes would have on the least fortunate in our society.  I find libertarian policies hard to reconcile with any connection to, for lack of a better term, "real America".  The "leave us alone" mentality fails to take them into account at its most basic level.  Sure, individuals that identify with libertarianism could have some reasonable positions, but that almost certainly implies they are not libertarian positions. In a lot of ways, Libertarian is 'populism'. If you are talking about 'communitarianism', then yes I would find that preferable to Libertarianism.

I liked the style of populism from the midwest and southern areas during the late 19th century.
