Is the Wyden bill really the republican proposal? I'm pretty sure they will be against it the minute the dem leadership gives a signal they are for it. I think you're being pretty disingenuous by calling it the republican bill. Hell, it was proposed by a democrat.

Sorry, I researched more what it was, not who created it. However, the two major champions and sponsors were Republican Senators Wyden and Robert F. Bennet from Utah. However, it also had support from both parties, and as you said, the intial proposal was from a Democrat.

We need a bill that allows the public to decide if they want it or not. The Dems are idiots for not recognizing it.

Other: either make the necessary reforms to restore the free market in healthcare that gave us the greatest system in the world until the 1960s, or if government intervention must be involved, just extend Medicare to everyone and be done with it.

No gigantic corporate kickback schemes like Obama & Co are plotting.

Maybe he's just referencing that Wyden is actually a Democrat?

I must admit that I am wrong. I do not know the people in the Senate by name or location apparently, even party. Wikipedia apparently has a large typo, or is written badly, since it infers that both are Republicans from Utah. However, it can now be identified as a Bi-Partisan Bill correctly. Again folks, I'm sorry for the mix-up.

Well, Wyden is a democrat as has been said about 5 times but other than that yes it would seem that this bill is the republican response. All I'm saying is that if Obama suddenly decided to scrap the current bill and instead adopt this, all those republican co-sponsors would find some reason to not support it anymore.

None of these hit the spot. My healthcare bill would be this:

1. Health insurance coverage for all. The government would provide insurance for those who private companies won't, and will help subsidise private health insurance for low income families.
2. The government will subsidise all dental and optical appliances with no charge being paid by the buyer.
3. Rigorous application of anti-trust law to make sure health insurance companies and health business is kept small. Benefits for health co-operatives.
