Because--well, I really hate to say this--but they were insane.

Not voting for a criminal warmonger is insane?

Voting for McGovern was.

How? Opposing the Vietnam War was insane? Opposing crook warmonger was insane?

No and no. However, supporting weed legalization and abortion is.

I don't see how either of those are insane. McGovern definitely wasn't as pro-drugs and pro-abortion (which is a ridiculous term) as he was painted by Nixon.

McGovern's position on the Vietnam War? Yes, it was insane.

Again--it's not the anti-Nixon vote that I'm criticising (I'm no Nixonian myself), but against McGovern, I most certainly would have voted for Nixon.

I don't really see much difference between Nixon and McGovern besides McGovern being against the war and not being a crook. Nixon and McGovern's economic programme were essentially the same. Nixon and McGovern were both pro-choice (Nixon actually had some very amusing Hitlerite views on abortion, definitely google worthy Grin).
