Okay, this one is really off the wall...

Let's say Ron Paul somehow manages to win the Republican nomination for President in 1980. He picks Democrat Larry McDonald of Georgia, a conservative Democrat and former President of the John Birch Society, for Vice President.

Anderson remains in the race.

How does the election play out?

Pretty much the same map as it was historically in 1980. Carter was toast.

Ron Paul wins and we all win, except for corporate elites and their corrupt political cronies.

Yeah...There's no way a representaive will pick another Representative to balance the ticket. Eventhough Larry McDonald does seem like an interesting character that I need to work into a future TL somehow. Here's a map...Because If Anderson doesn't run...Outside of New Hampshire Jimmy will be able to lock up the Northeast, and but Paul's libertarianisim might cut his support in the south.

Carter eeks it out. Just slides in for the 2nd term. Anderson would have been blamed for the loss by the Repubs.
