This is the SDP's second convention. The first ended in confusion as Ramsay MacDonald and Jimmy Thomas left the Party. As a result, the convention was ended and its decisions revoked.

The new convention will begin with a period of open debate on what the role of the party ought to be. SDP members and people on the Left who might consider joining or supporting the SDP are welcome to contribute. Alternative names for the party may be suggested as well.

I guess he reffered (but I don't know in which order) to Senator Hans-Im-Gluck and me, Northeast Rep. and former SDP Undersecretary.
