No, he would be competing with Johnson.

I think he'll get out if Paul enters. Paul would steal all of his people, so there wouldn't be much of a point to him being there.

Paul will be 77 in 2012, just a bit younger than Reagan when he left the office. Although most of his voters are probably fanatical enough to support him even if he were 89. Anyway, Chamberlainism, Kumbaya singing and utopian non-interventionism will never prevail in Republican presidential primaries.

I voted no, because I don't think he will run for president again in 2012 due to his age.

Yes, if Johnson doesn't run.  No, if Johnson runs.

Almost certainly. I doubt most people that voted for him in 2008 wouldn't vote for him in 2012. With no Democratic primary, anti-war Democrats could cross over to vote for him like progressive Democrats crossed over to vote for McCain in 2000. He can also pick of the votes of many disgruntled Republicans. Plus, he did well with Independents in 2008, and there's no Democratic alternative for them to vote in during the primary season.

Well he likely won the Washington GOP caucus in 2008 (and pseudo-Nevada were it not for the convention being stopped) so it is possible for him to win some states.

I don't think so. Mostly because of his age, but also in small part because of Gary Johnson. Though, I would point out that much of his later success was due to dissatisfaction with the Republican nominee - protest votes. McCain had the nomination locked up by the time we voted, but I still voted for Huckabee (whom I had been supporting for months) for just that reason. I don't think there's going to be a repeat of that in 2012.

But that wasn't the question.

It did start with "If Ron Paul runs."

Quite true, but he's not a Republican now.
