In order to have Dr. Paul as a serious contender, you'd have to have a significant amount of Republicans drop their militarism and authoritarian ways, which is very unlikely.

He won CPAC, which is a good start. I know that I should know better than to be optimistic about the Republican Party, but with Romney and Palin as his main opponents there is plenty of room for growth.

He's not going to raise nearly as much money this time around. It's the Ross Perot effect on a much smaller scale.

Ron Paul is not a serious contender for the Presidency, and he knows it. He just wants to further his movement, which is fine. The Son, Rand, might have a shot though, if down the line.

Let's say Gary doesn't run if Paul does, hoping for the VP nod or something.

Hell, damn his Neville Chamberlain foreign policy views with some good points but if Ron Paul wins the primary I will not hesitate to vote for him.  We need his economic views more than ever and he can drive the republican party back to where it needs to go on this front.  A new Calvin Coolidge in office - I can just see it, to roll back Obama's Neo-Wilsonian policies.

Ron Paul is not a serious canidate.  He will never be President.  However, I'm almost 100% sure that I'll be pulling for Gary Johnson.  I like his economic and personal freedom platform as well as his non-corporatist attitude.

The only good thing if Ron Paul somehow became President is that he'd destroy libertarianism for years to come.

Good God we're not going to have many good Republicans running this time around. Sad

Based on the PPP poll from a couple months ago, assuming the election were today:

Although Paul would have serious room for improvement given Obama's declining numbers and greater exposure to Paul.
