I don't think John Quincy Adams would have won the popular vote in New York in great part due to Martin Van Buren. Van Buren was one of the first mdoern machine politicians and New York was his base. Jackson would have built up a hefty and insurmountable margin there. A more interesting scenario, in my opinion, would be Adams vs. Jackson with no other candidates in 1824. Jackson still probably would have won, but it would be cool to see the distribution of support to each candidate in this situation.
