It depends who runs against him.  Although, I beleive his lead with African Americans, Young and middle aged Hispanics, as well as Young whites is almost insurmountable.

If unemployment keeps falling, like it has been for the last few months, and if the economy starts to create more jobs, Obama will easily defeat whoever the Republican nominee is.

Yeah he's so good that he's retiring.  Obama couldn't even keep ya around huh Dodd?

Dodd needs to just retire already.  I don't know if Obama is going to be reelected but anything coming out of Dodd's mouth is a joke to me and particularly the people of Connecticut.

I'm starting to think that the Democrats are going to get brutally thrashed this year, perhaps even losing one or both houses (unthinkable months ago). This might actually be a bad thing for Republicans in the long run though. Obama is at his best when he has someone or something to run against. So it goes.

Probably will be, yeah. It's the most likely outcome at the moment (and becomes likelier the closer the GOP comes to taking back one or both houses).

I honestly wonder how concerned John Boner and the others are about blowing their whole wad on this election. They have to be thinking about it.

The only wads I see being blown here are from every member in this thread having a big circle jerk over the statement from the Senator forced into reitrement by Obama's overreaching agenda.

I wonder if Dodd said the same thing about himself four years ago?

The surges in Iraq and Afghanistan may have sealed the deal.

That's the worst case scenario for the GOP.  I don't think the Dems should be counting on it. Wink

Hmm, Im not sure I can take Dodds word on that. It all depends on the path the economy is going to take and personally I dont think it looks good. Even though Obama and his administration isnt the only power that decides how it will actually shape up theres no doubt people will blame him for it. A big question for me is whether Obama will go to war with Iran or not. And yes, the republican candidate is a factor too of course. At the moment I cant see who would be convincing for the masses....but in politics, some magic rabbit may always appear out of the hat.

If in November 2008 you had known the following, what would you expect in November 2012?

1. The economy out of the collapse stage and into solid growth

2. the US getting out of Iraq gracefully (except perhaps for Blackwater/Xe...}

3. The US finishing the job in Afghanistan

Well?

we're pretty pro-America, actually. obviously we dislike the racist rednecks like yourselves who pretend to be the only thing America has to offer, but the rest of it sits fine with us.
