Well, the news sources I checked were 1 minute old when I looked at them. Even though, admittedly, he might have died a little sooner than the news reported.

He had billions of dollars in pork funneled into his district(s) over the years, just so that he could build useless projects and slap his name on them.  He would often contradict himself to attack others, which is how he maintained his standing with a constituency that is remarkably uneducated (his districts, both before and after the ridiculous "Murthaland" Gerrymander are very poor, very elderly, and have no real access to basic social services, which makes his history of earmarks for highways and airports that no one uses all the worse)... in short, he was scum... total scum.
